This BE Elite EP 5 is a juggernaut of a bass. No doubt about it! The Aguilar pickups are growly and punchy as heck with an airy and open top-end. The bottom end is super tight and the B-string is thunderous and extremely focused. The natural EQ curve of the bass seems to be pretty balanced across the board. It has enough mid-range to keep your tone distinct and clear but not too much such that you’ll start (sonically) stepping on your bandmates’ toes. The treble respnose is awesome and helps the bass to really cut through the mix whether you’re playing metal with a pick and some distortion or laying down the thumb for some funk stuff. The onboard 3-band EQ adds to the overall versatility of this bass, but overall I would say it’s tone lends itself to harder rock styles such as, but not limited to, metal. The extra tight string spacing also makes it a breeze to play complicated string-skipping lines and the extended fretboard and even feel a bit like a ramp under your fingers if you want to pluck way up by the neck.  The satin finish on the body looks and feels awesome and the neck is lightning fast to play and also unfinished to give you that feeling of having your fretting hand actually in contact with a solid piece of wood, instead of globs of gloss and lacquer.
