Sandberg Left-Handed Booster 5 Bass, 5-String, Matte Black

Music Store Live is proud to offer up this beautiful left-handed Booster bass from our friends over at Sandberg. We are huge fans of every Sandberg instrument we’ve come across. These new Boosters are no exception.

This bass is an awesome addition to Sandberg’s lineups. It’s actually an original design that they started with back at the inception of the company and it’s making a comeback but with some contemporary tweaks to it. The 3-band EQ, for example, is not something found on many Sandberg basses. Most of them just have 2. Adding the ability to control your mid-range, for this bass, makes a lot of sense. Just look at where those 2 pickups are positioned. You can tell, just from looking at it, that this bass is going to have a punchy and growly tone with loads of bark. Add some sharpness and attack to your notes or round them out with a simple twist of a knob. It’s definitely meant to be noticed even when you’re surrounded by screaming guitars, whacky synthesizers, and drummers who think they’re Bam Bam from the Flinstones. This bass will sit perfectly in the mix for you and keep your notes tight and articulate. You’d have to actively try to get a muddy tone out of this. It’s not easy to do, that’s for sure. The ebony fretboard on this one will also add some nice brightness and extra snap to the notes.

The feel is 100% Sandberg through and through. The neck feels amazing, the fretwork allows for very low action, and the flat fretboard radius makes playing up and down the neck effortless. But then again, we’ve come to expect this level of playability from these guys. They are true craftsmen of their arts. The B and E-strings are super tight and punchy thanks to the 35″ scale length and you could even tune that B down to an A with no problem at all if you felt so inclined. 

The Booster was certainly designed for the type of player that wants a more aggressive tone and, perhaps, likes to play with distortion and saturation. However, this will also appeal to funkers and R&B guys who like that “stand out” sort of bass tone with lots of bark and punch to it. It also has an absolutely killer slap tone. It’s a very versatile modern sounding instrument. Simply put, it will be hard to find something that feels or sounds better than this.
